I remember this show lo these many years ago and I was mesmerized by the sound of it all. Jaco was always a personal fave of mine. And of course I was crestfallen upon hearing of his death. It is fitting that Zawinul took some of the responsibility for this tragedy in an interview. He says that Jaco was a complete teetotaler and that he coaxed him to take that first drink. Being a Finnish ancestry meant 2 things, either drink to excess or not at all. But he, with his mental frailty, drank.
Saying that Cliff Burton is better than Pastorius is similar to say that Herman Li is better than Hendrix.
Of course I’m not saying that the best metal bassist of all time (Cliff Burton ) is a buffoon like Herman Li, i only make a apology.
Cliff burton was a SICK bass player, but simply Jaco is in another level.
